3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS
The tour begins at 9:00 a.m. We will travel by a 4X4 jeep from Rurrenabaque until Santa Rosa. During the trip you might be able to sight herons, sloths, and abundant flora and fauna typical to the pampas of the Bolivian Amazon. We will have lunch in Santa Rosa and then we will sail on a motorboat through the Yacuma River for 3 and a half hours.
During the ride you will be able to see many reptiles, and amphibians such as turtles, caimans, alligators, frogs, and others. We might also be able to sight howling monkeys, spider monkeys, capybaras, kingfishers, jabirus, hawks, and eagles. We will sail until we arrive to the Bibosi camp, here we will settle everyone in and then we will have a small snack. Afterwards we will take a 1 and a half hour hike to watch the sunset. When we get back to camp we will serve a buffet dinner. After dinner we will sail for an hour and a half in canoes to search for caimans and anacondas. We will be able to see how the eyes of these animals shine in the dark when the light of a flashlight hits them. With any luck we will be able to spot other nighttime animals.
Breakfast. Then we will take a hike into the pampas until we arrive to some small lakes and rivers where we might be able to see some anacondas and other snakes. Then we will do some bird watching, try to spot eagles in search of their food: snakes. In this area there is a lot of tropical vegetation like orchids and others of the like. We will then have lunch and a break.
After lunch we will sail through the river in search of aquatic life such as river dolphins, you will get a chance to swim with them!! You will also be able to see some turtles, capybaras, and many other aquatic birds such as flamingos. If you like fishing you can try to catch some piranhas. Return to camp for dinner.
We will get up early (5:30) to do some bird watching, then we will sail for an hour and a half to watch the sunrise and hear the local birds sing. Here we will be able to see many types of parrots, partridges, and whistle monkeys. Then we will have breakfast and head back to the Yacuma River to do some more sailing until we arrive to some small forest islands. At the shores of these islands you will be able to see geese, red and blue parabas, toucans, alligators, sloths and other animal. The guide will share with you all his knowledge of the animal diversity of the area. You will also learn about medicinal plants and all their uses. Then we will have lunch and later we will head towards Santa Rosa on a boat. From Santa Rosa you will get into one of our 4X4 jeeps to start the trip back to Rurrenabaque.
